Nourishing Beginnings: Nutrition 101 for Pregnancy and Early ChildhoodParent Only ClassesHave you ever been curious about the power of the food that you put in your body? HLWW ECFE is partnering with a local expert in prenatal, perinatal, and early childhood nutrition to present a class series that focuses specifically about the ins and outs of these topics. Come join Ms. Ellen and Kennedy Youngren, MS RDN LD, to dive deep into the power that our food has on growth, energy and mental health, development, fertility support, learning, and more. When we know what to focus on during the different aspects of our and our children's lives we can more easily reach our own goals, help our children reach theirs, and support our families. This class is for anyone who is a parent or caregiver, hopes to one day become a parent, or wants to know more to help support those around them. Families are encouraged to enroll and bring their young children with them. Research shows us that early exposure to food literacy and healthy and safe discussion around how food makes us feel and supports our bodies has been shown to strengthen children's ability to make healthy eating habits later on in their lives. This information tells us that having our little ones present during this class not only benefits us, but also them. The information in this class will be tailored to be safe and exciting for the whole family. We will meet in the ECFE classroom for each of the classes. The class will be focused on parent and family education surrounding nutrition, however teachers will be present to assist with playing with and keeping young children busy during parent learning times. This class will be broken into two sessions, in which you can register together or independently: 1. Maternal Nutrition and 2. Infant and Childhood Nutrition. There will be 9 classes total, each focusing on an individual topic of interest. The class schedule is below. Although it is encouraged to register for the whole series, please register for one or both of the sessions, based on your family's interests and needs. Session 1: Maternal Nutrition 1/23 - Class 1: Preconception 2/6 - Class 2: First Trimester of Pregnancy 2/20 - Class 3: Second Trimester of Pregnancy 3/6 - Class 4: Third Trimester of Pregnancy 3/20 - Class 5: Postpartum Nutrition for Moms Session 2: Baby and Early Childhood Nutrition 4/3 - Class 6: Infant Care Nutrition and Postpartum Nursing nutrition and support 4/17 - Class 7: Infant Nutrition 6-12 months: Introduction of solid foods 5/1 - Class 8: 12-24 months: Toddlerhood 5/15 - Class 9: Preschool and Beyond: How Food Affects Learning and Growth2024-2025
